Founded in 1990, the club has come a long way from it's humble beginnings playing the in the village park and changing at the Duke of Bedford Primary School before games.
On the playing front the club regularly ran 2 senior sides throughout the 1990s and early 2000s as well as a successful junior section that ensured a steady stream of younger players coming in to the senior set-up and provided a strength in depth that allowed the club to compete with their more well established neighbours Peterborough, Westwood and Deepings. This ability to punch above their perceived weight was particularly highlighted by a first Hunts & Peterborough Cup final appearance in 1997, described by the Peterborough Evening Telegraph as "David vs Goliath", with the village side ultimately falling just short in a 22-15 defeat. Despite the scoreline the performance of the underdog side established them on the local rugby scene as a club not content to be "also rans" and who were here to stay.
The ambition to progress was present off the field as well, and after a long fundraising process the club were able to secure the purchase of land just outside the village on Crowland Road that would become the Ron Jacobs Playing Fields, named for former England International and inaugural club president Ron Jacobs. The team would make the move to playing at their new home in 2000 with the construction of changing rooms at the facility, followed in 2008 by the opening of the club house extension, including 4 larger changing rooms, kitchen and bar. With 3 pitches, including a floodlit training pitch, the club were recognised by the East Midlands as an example to clubs in the area, being as they are the only club in the area who own their facilities.
A second Hunts & Peterborough Cup final appearance in 2016 would see the club pick up a first piece of silverware with an impressive 41-7 victory over Huntingdon. While the 1st XV were continuing to do well, the decreasing popularity of rugby in the area was starting to be felt by all the local teams and getting a true 2nd XV out was becoming an increasing struggle. However, the Old Monks veterans side was going from strength to strength, winning the East Midlands Veterans Plate final in 2016-17 followed by the Hunts & Peterborough Vets League in 2017-18 in an unbeaten season.
At the end of the 2022-23 season the club made the decision to move to the Eastern Counties league after several years of struggling in an East Midlands league that, whilst on paper a level 9 league, was becoming increasingly imbalanced. The following season proved just the change needed and with player recruitment going well the reinvigorated team finished the season 2nd behind Champions March. 2024-25 would see the club go one better and secure a first ever league title meaning the 2025-26 season will be played at level 8 for the first time in the club's history.
