Thorney started their journey at level 8 with a good performance against Thurston RFC. The Navy & Gold were on the scoreboard within minutes of kickoff as Owen Davies swooped onto a dropped kick. He duly converted his own try. Aidan Tipton was next to cross the whitewash as the village side kept to their game plan. Thurston responded with two tries of their own before speedster Michael Croucher made it 21-14 at the break.
As the game ebbed and flowed with both teams working for possession and field position. Thurston took the lead. Thorney continued to stick to the plan and tries followed from Luke Cochrane, Chris Sansby and Michael Croucher crossing for his second. Davies converted all tries leading to a 42-33 win.
