A strong performance with some work-ons.
Thorney travelled to Ellgia Fields on a warm sunny Saturday looking to get back to winning ways against Cambridge Exiles after a week off due to St-Ives not being able to raise a team and Thorney receiving a home walkover the previous week.
Thorney started strongly with some excellent support play pulling the Exiles around the park and creating space. Thorney were on the score board after 4 minutes with a try from winger Ronnie Kilby swiftly followed by trys from Alberto Lucas (wing) and Aidan Tipton (centre) both converted by Owen Davies to make it 0-17 after 17 minutes. It didn't stop there as Thorney continued to pressure the Exiles defence and two converted trys soon followed from Leo Shreeve-Peacock (flanker) and Josh Gilbert (prop) to see out the first half 0-31.
Thorney started the second half as they did the first moving the Exiles around the park and creating space. This allowed Thorney to score through Ronnie Kilby (second try of the match), Luke Cochrane (Flyhalf) making it 0-45 with Owen Davies converting both.
To their credit the Exiles never gave up and with some decisions going against the Navy and Gold, they worked their way up the pitch to score a well deserved try to get them on the score board 5-45. However, from the restart Thorney got the ball back and Marcus Bradshaw (No8) powered over the line and it was now 5-52. At this point you would have thought most teams would have rolled over but once again the Exiles kept coming and scored three trys making the final score 24-59 due to another converted try for Thorney through Leo Shreeves-Peacock.
