Last years best local derby (played 3 times) came round again.
Peterborough came into the game off the back of a good win away to St Ives last weekend and this was Thorney's first league game of the season due to an odd number of sides in the league.
The game started in beautiful sunshine with Thorney dominating the set piece, especially the scrum. Strong carries in the loose by Marcus Bradshaw and former Borough first team player of the season Chris Sansby gave Thorney good field position but sadly they couldn't convert it to points. Borough then started to get their hands on the ball and played some good rugby until a loose ball saw Thorney fly half Owen Davies hack the ball through to the Borough try line only for them to concede a penalty which allowed Marcus Bradshaw to score the first try of the game, converted by Owen Davies.
Shortly after half time the rain started and made difficult playing conditions for both sides. However, with 20 minutes to go Thorney showed their forwards dominance by scoring another try through Stefan Almond in the corner which was beautifully converted by Owen Davies.
Borough at this point ran out of front row so went unopposed in the scrum, which then gave them a bit more ball to play with and with 10 minutes to go scored a well worked try of their own through Paddy Berryman converted by Will Sismey. This spurred Thorney back into action with Dino Perna powering over the line for try number 3 once again converted by Davies.
A well played and hard fought local derby saw Marcus Bradshaw voted Man of the Match for his strong carrying.
